For me, with this, the curiosity lies less with the lack of faith people have with the UK government and more with why some put so much into the Russian one instead.

I don't buy any line that suggests this is an isolated incident propagated by the Russians, I think by now few would deny every nation gets up to shady stuff on each others grounds. It seems more that there is something of an international gentlemans agreement whereby each government overlooks X amount of stuff so that the other nation will overlook just as much going on in their own country. The accusation this time more being that the Russian government is being pinned on overstepping that agreement. I don't even believe that the poisoning of the spy is the thing anyone is that concerned about, it's happened before and has managed to be brushed aside, it seems more the uncontained nature of the attack that's led to the outcry.

I mean, this will come and go whether it's connected to the Russian's or not. Any nation with an effective dictator in charge is going to attract regular scorn from other nations so nothing is going to change until the west perceives Russia has changed and that won't happen till at least Putin has been dead for many years.

This isn't news to most people but double agents, even in retirement, tend to be assassinated at some point. Their job, when working, was to betray people. A double agent in retirement probably has smouldering personal vendettas with dozens, if not hundreds of people.

I cannot speak Russian and I'm not sure entirely what I said. I typed half random nonsense into Google translate. Something about the government being capitalist swine and being crushed like cockaroaches by Russian might.

I'm actually a British citizen, of Polish heritage, but I like to big-up the Slavic East Bloc. My sleeveless punk denim jacket is adorned with my Polish grandfather's medals, because I think the East Bloc aesthetic is cool. I'm not so much pro-Russian as I am anti-government and anti-Tory, and very much a Socialist.

I only take this thread half seriously (maybe only 30% seriously), because as I see it: the British and American governments are lying as they usually do. The rest of the world is being incompetent as it usually is. I cannot take any of them seriously, because they have proven to be idiots, so I find it difficult to even seriously debate this. I am also shocked that anyone, ANYONE, is taking what the Tories are saying at face at this point, considering the cluster **** trainwreck they've put this country through in the last 2 years. How can anyone see Theresa's robotic lies and believe anything she says is beyond me. She has lied about the NHS, about the defence system, about homeless people, about Labour, about Brexit. I genuinely have trouble believing she has said anything of truth - to the point where I doubt her name is even Theresa. She is a sociopath and pathological liar. So is Boris. And all the other simpering morons in that cabinet.

Trying to rationally contemplate the actions of Theresa May and her cronnies is like trying to rationalise with a mentally ill person. I literally feel myself becoming more stupid.

All things are relative, so I'm honestly not sure. Like it's widely known that Putin is corrupt, but there's a certain amount of predictability there. I mean we went to war in Iraq due to "WMDs" just after the guy who was supposed to make that assessment (and wanted to say there weren't any) turned up dead.
